FIDE President visits Turkish Chess Federation

FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, visited the premises of the Turkish Chess Federation and also inspected the tournament hall which will be used for the last stage of the 2011/2012 FIDE Women Grand Prix Series.

Present during the visit were FIDE Vice President and Turkish Chess Federation President, Ali Nihat Yazici, FIDE CEO Geoffrey Borg and FIDE Moscow Director Berik Balgabaev.

In the meeting Mr Ali Nihat Yazici explained the expansion plans for the TSF as well as the recent acquisition of new premises in Ankara to launch a Chess Academy.

The offices of the TSF are owned by the Federation and are one of the largest today in the chess world employing 45 people. They cover all services for tournament organisation, membership monitoring, chess in schools, trainers & arbiters certification and a host of other services.

The Federation walls are peppered with posters of events that have been organised for the last ten years. They also produce a very high quality magazine which is circulated to all its members.

The intensive energey and money that the TSF have invested in their youth program has been bringing great results and TSF President showed the portraits of a few of the successes that TSF has achieved these last years.

Apart from big open office areas, the premises includes library, training rooms, tournament hall and a canteen for all the employees.

FIDE President then inspected the hall where the FIDE women Grand Prix will be held these next two weeks.

The visit ended with the traditional blitz games between the FIDE President and TSF President.
